Preserving Your Holiday Photos

January 2nd, 2012 by

preserve your holiday photographsIt’s time to take down the holiday decorations and pack them up for next year. The food’s been eaten and the relatives have all gone home. All the happy memories are still fresh in your mind.  Good thing you took lots of pictures so you can relive the fun times. It will bring big smiles to reminisce about the kids with icing all over their faces; Aunt Jennie’s idea for an ugly Christmas sweater party was a good one. Boy did Grandpa look silly wearing reindeer antlers! It was Hannah’s first year to light the Chanukah candles all by herself. Imagine how much fun it will be to relive all those memories when you’re sharing the pictures with your grandchildren in twenty years or so.

You’ve got all of those great holiday photos, now what?

Olympus EP 1 Camera and Olympus Pen FAfter a few months of only having dirt on Olympus’ shady upper management and their meteoric fall from Japan’s corporate culture graces, I am happy to report some good news coming from the eastern imaging giant. Archival Dreams

December 14th, 2011 by

Imagine being able to access and physically hold pieces of world history that very few people have access to.  Images of any and everything, from D-Day in Normandy to the Civil Rights movement, these visual slivers of history are accessible from any computer thanks to the omnipresent Google. The massive array of information and images gathered throughout history is no longer acceptable to a select elite, but is readily available at your fingertips through advent of the internet.

But what about actually holding an original piece of this history? Rather than gazing over a low rez picture online or a digital reproduction in a book, what if you could pick up the original negative and hold it to the light to see precisely what the camera saw at that moment in time? Or the exact, original and unadulterated print that the photographer intended from his negative.

You can do this, and you don’t even have to be a pro to get this kind of access.
