Hands On Concert Photography at The Mohawk
with Olympus

UPDATE 1/11/18

The class is sold out. But you can still come to the show and borrow a camera for free! See details below

***

Austin is well known as the "Live Music Capital of the World." So let's take advantage of that and learn how to make better images of musicians in low light settings. From getting the gig to learning techniques for successfully shooting small or large concerts, concert photographer Jennifer Colucci will share variables that you are sure to encounter, as well as tips for overcoming them.

We’ll get down to the nitty gritty of what to expect when preparing to shoot a show or concert, some of the pitfalls that you'll want to avoid as well as the "must have" shots that you should always get. Jennifer will also cover etiquette and how to make sure you're courteous and unobtrusive with your craft.

This class will be open to no more than 15 students who will have exclusive early access to The Mohawk to learn from Jennifer and Precision Camera University Director Casey Holder, an experienced Austin concert photographer, along with the opportunity to photograph the opening band during their private sound check and rehearsal. Olympus will provide FREE loaner equipment to students including camera bodies and fast prime lenses that are optimal for photographing in the low-light scenarios you'll find in a majority of Austin's venues.

We guarantee you'll walk away feeling confident and ready to capture the mood and soul of any show.

The Show — Class Format

In conjunction with For Spite Creative, Olympus and the Mohawk, we've booked our very own show to shoot with three of Austin's most dynamic local performers:
Caleb De Casper
SIGNY
Fort Never

Class registrants will have early access to the venue, where Jennifer and Casey will walk them through pointers and help them shoot sound check. At 9 p.m., the doors to the venue will open to the public and the bands will begin at 9:30 p.m.

The Venue

The class and the subsequent concert will take place at the Mohawk, 912 Red River St. Austin 78701. The venue is downtown and parking can be tough. Consider ride share options or arriving early to find street parking in Downtown Austin. Please visit the venue's WEBSITE for more information.
