Class Objective
This class is designed to teach the basic principles of filmmaking from writing the script to producing a
finished film. The class will cover production with both HDV camcorders and also the new HD capable
DSLRs by Canon and Nikon, both of which will shoot High Definition Video. We will demonstrate
examples of each type of camera.
The cost for the class is $179. Class hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a lunch break.

Austin filmmaker Rod Cole was Director of Photography on five short films and one documentary in
2008. Rod has studied filmmaking under acclaimed Austin filmmaker Kat Candler (producer of feature
films “Jumping off Bridges” and “Cicadas).” Rod is Secretary of the Austin Professional
Photographers Association. He is also a Producer at Channel Austin TV, where, in 2007, he produced
two live weekly TV programs and three weekly taped TV programs. For 2009, Rod is in preproduction
planning for two documentaries, “The Houston McCoy Story” and “The P.E.T. Project.” His
next short film (currently in Pre-Production) is entitled “Bikers vs. Geeks III – Who will Rule the
World?” and is currently seeking funding for a feature length version entitled “Bikers vs. Geeks.
