Basic Photo Editing: Capture One
Managing and editing your images as a new photographer can be daunting. How do you import your images? What basic editing should you do? How do you share the results with the world?
This class will jump start your image editing pipeline using Capture One. We will discuss the basics of workflow (something every photographer needs just a little of), and then jump into basic editing in Capture One including white balance, exposure, levels and curves.
This class is a part of a workflow and image editing series. If you are interested in more advanced editing, check out the Intermediate Photo Editing: Capture One class.
• How to import your images.
• Where to store your images.
• Basic image editing: white balance, exposure, levels & curve.
• Cropping and rotating images.
• Dust and spot removal.
• Exporting your images to share or print.
Already comfortable with this? Check out our Intermediate Photo Editing: Capture One class that covers more advanced editing such as local adjustments, detailed color editing and other advanced features.
Students should bring their laptop and will be provided a set of images so they can “click along” with the instructor. Students are also welcome to work on their own images.
This workshop is designed for photographers new to image editing and to managing their images on a computer, or new to Capture One and looking for help getting started.
Schedule and Format
This is a classroom-only class. Students are encouraged to bring a laptop and “click along.” Students are encouraged to interrupt and ask questions.
About the Instructor
Andrew Fritz is a self-taught photographer who comes from a software engineering background. On his very first trip with a camera, he discovered night photography and has never looked back. He developed his night photography skills through trial and error in environments from the near perfect darkness of west Texas to bright urban settings around Washington DC and Austin. When not making nighttime images, Andrew is shooting for AzulOx Visuals making a variety of images from weddings, to architecture and everything in between. Andrew loves solving problems but more than that, he loves sharing his knowledge with others, helping them grow.
