Exploring the Studio: High-Key

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Do you struggle to create a pure white background in your studio portraits only to turn around and spend hours in Photoshop to clean up the photos? In this class, I’ll teach studio strobe lighting techniques to achieve a pure white background look in camera with only minimal post-production work. This is a three-hour, hands-on class photographing a model to capture a variety of looks.

Savage and Precision are bringing you an exciting new class offering- learn the creative world of light painted portraits!! Utilizing long exposures and the Savage RGB LED wand, create new colorful backgrounds for your studio portrait subjects. We will be blending long exposures in the studio with the LED wands and second curtain flash to freeze our subjects. Plus - you will walk away with your very own Savage RGB LED Wand!

This workshop is specific to bird photography and for those familiar with their camera settings. We will work on composition, lighting, bird behavior and identification, angle and point of focus. There will be opportunities to see shore birds, prairie birds and song birds. Some of the species we can expect to photograph include Great egrets, wintering ducks, cormorants, Meadowlarks, Eastern Phoebes, various warblers as well as easy practice on mockingbirds, grackles and sparrows.
