What is PCU?
PCU, short for Precision Camera University, is our education and community outreach program.
This PCU Weekend is a two-day, hands-on photography workshop getaway. We're bringing in some of the best instructors from around the country so that you can spend the weekend knee deep in photography!
This year we are doing something a little different, we will have a packed two days.
We have 4 great instructors coming into town, and you will spend 4 hours with all four of them.
Each instructor's teaching style will vary, but each day will feature a mix of seminar and shooting time, more shooting time than seminar. The workshops will include access to models and the images you capture will be yours to use for portfolio and promotional purposes.
The weekend is a great opportunity to add to your portfolio, network with other photographers and have an amazing, memorable time.
The cost for the two days is $239, however each paid person will receive a $50 gift card to Precision Camera, so your net cost is $189!
If you have any questions regarding the event or your registration, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Tracie's style of teaching is light and funny and tends away from technical jargon so that anyone can understand exactly what she's teaching. Start off with a short presentation and then get your hands dirty with light and ask all the questions you've ever had about studio light. You will leave with 3 specific lighting setups that will work for you! We'll offer a single light setup, a 2 light setup and a 3 light setup. Get ready to ditch your excuses about light and up level your work!
- Sponsored by Sony : Inti St. Clair - Environmental Portraits
With the intention of crafting photos that truly capture the essence of the person(s) in front of the camera, Inti will focus on environmental portraiture and lifestyle moments during her class. She will discuss shooting for your portfolio to "level-up", and get the work that you dream of. This will be a very hands-on class, and she work with the students on posing, directing, and lighting using a combination of natural light and supplemental lighting in a way that feels natural, but elevated.
- Sponsored by Westcott : Eli Infante - Stunning Off-Camera Flash Portraits
In this portrait session, Westcott Top Pro photographer Eli Infante explains his signature off-camera flash photo process. Discover how to create beautiful light for stunning portraits.
- Sponsored by Fujifilm : Bobbi Lane - Portraits Unplugged
Any time of day can work for flattering or effective environmental portraits provided you learn to “see” the light/shadow. The “Big Three” – direction, quality and depth of light are the key to describing your subject and setting the mood. We work with window light, backlight, open shade and garage door lighting. Reflectors and diffusers provide a tremendous amount of control in manipulating the light.
We will start with an instructional image presentation that covers the “rules” of Portraits Unplugged and various lighting situations for creative imaging. We will then go outside for demos with reflectors and diffusers and then photographed models on location. This presentation and shooting class will help create a higher level of quality for your subjects!
Tell me about Accommodations and Schedule:
This year we are keeping PCU close.
We will be at Kalahari Resort in Round Rock, TX. Kalahari is a fantastic space to shoot in and around.
You do not have to stay at the resort unless of course you wish to. There are many other hotels close by also or just stay home Saturday night.
The schedule this year is very simple:
Saturday and Sunday is the same:
First class start promptly at 8am and goes till noon.
Lunch on your own from noon to 1:30pm There are many places to eat inside the resort.
Second class starts at 1:30 and ends at 5:30pm
You will spend 4 hours in the first class, then after lunch you will switch rooms and spend the rest of the day with a different instructor.
You get to spend time with all four instructors over the two days.
We are emphasizing more shooting time than seminar this year. So bring extra batteries and memory cards.
