Dogs are members of our families, excitedly greeting us every time we come home, and there is a reason it is called giving someone “puppy dog eyes”...dogs’ eyes melt people! In this specialty course, fly past the steep learning curve of the intricacies of doing portrait photography of man’s best friend and get ready to capture dramatic images people will treasure for a lifetime!
Whether you are interested as a business or hobby, this course will give you an understanding of how to overcome the unique challenges you will face in your quest spotlight beloved dogs’ soulful expressions, dramatically accentuate their individual beauty, and capture their emotional connection with their owners in family portraits. You will even learn the magic behind taking elusively beautiful, detailed portraits of black dogs!
During this course, you will receive an overview of how to stand out to clients, learn what lighting and composition strategies work best for different dog characteristics, how to maximize your setup to minimize your photo editing time, and how to manage the special challenges that come from working with a dog and its owner in a portrait setting.

This is an advanced class focused on specific technical challenges faced while doing dog photography. Students should have an understanding of the exposure manual mode and studio lighting.
Schedule and Format
The class will be at Precision Camera in the classroom.
This 3 hour class will be approximately 1.5 hours of classroom instruction followed by 1.5 hours of hands-on dog photography and discussion shooting a variety of demo dogs. (The instructor will provide demo dogs so please leave your pup at home for this one!)
About the Instructor
Larry Ross is the owner of Lifestyle Photo and Video and has been shooting professionally for over 15 years. He is widely regarded as one of the top photographers of dogs in the south, having photographed over 150 dogs in his studio and on location at competitive events with clients coming from as far away as New York and California. Larry is also heavily involved in charitable contributions to the community, providing “adopt me” portraits for dog rescue groups, photography for other non-profits in the area, in addition to doing photography for American Airlines.

Class Cancellations & Refunds
Tier 1: Standard Classes
You can cancel a class registration up to two business days before the class begins and receive a full refund for standard classes. If you register for a tier 1 class and do not show up, your payment will be forfeited. You may reschedule a class only if notice is given before the start time of the class. Unless otherwise stated, class refunds are only issued to customers that provide notice to the store that they would like a refund no later than two business days prior to the class. Refunds will not be issued to customers who sign up for a class but fail to attend.
How to Reschedule or Cancel a Class
Please contact the store at 512-467-7676 or email email@example.com to cancel a class. Class cancellations or requests to be rescheduled that are sent through other channels, such as Facebook or Meetup.com messages, will not be honored.
Each class needs a minimum number of students to enroll before the class can “make.” If the minimum enrollment has not been met two business days before the class begins, the class will be cancelled. All students who enrolled in the class will be notified by telephone or email, and may transfer to a different class or be issued a refund. We encourage all students to enroll as soon as registration begins. Please check your phone and email messages, including your SPAM.
