Seeing Beyond - Water, Textures, & Abstracts
with Chase Fountain

During this workshop you will go beyond just photographing landscapes. We will narrow our focus on photographing the artistic elements nature has to offer with one-on-one instruction from Texas Parks and Wildlife photographer, Chase Fountain.

• Creating abstract images from nature
• DSLR Camera and Lenses, Wide, Normal and Macro.
• Sturdy Tripod

• Filters: Circular polarizer, ND 4, 8. Gradient
• Sturdy shoes (may get wet)

There will be a fair amount of walking. Participants will navigate over boulders, through shallow water, and traverse elevated terrain.
This is an intermediate level class. The instructor will cover technical concepts including but not limited to understanding the exposure triangle, exposure compensation, shooting in manual mode and maximizing depth of field. Students need to be knowledgeable about their camera and its basic functions.
Schedule and Format
This is a hands-on excursion based class. The 5-hour class will be broken down into two parts. The first 90 minutes will be held at Precision Camera - south location from 2:30 - 4 p.m. We will discuss composition, abstract imagery, textures in nature and advanced camera settings.
After the in-classroom portion we will head out to Pedernales Falls State park from 5 p.m. to Sunset applying what we learned in the class with hands-on help from the instructor.
Each student is responsible for their own transportation between Precision Camera and Pedernales Falls State Park and their admission to the state park ($5 cash/check or free with a Texas State Park Pass).
The practical part of this class will involve some hiking. Students can hike as far as they like (beyond what the class does), but the class will primarily work in an area requiring about a 1 mile easy hike round trip.
We are excited to announce classes at our new pop-up location in south Austin, at 1901 W William Cannon Dr. All classes designated with a "SOUTH LOCATION" marker will take place at this location. All other classes will take place at our flagship store, 2438 W Anderson Ln. Suite B-4.
About the Instructor
In 1993 Chase Fountain graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University and received his degree in Bachelor of Applied arts and Sciences specializing in photojournalism and fine art photography.
He has been a professional photographer for over thirty years with experience in both the private and public sectors. In 2005 he was offered the staff photographer position for Texas Parks and Wildlife. Being an avid hunter, fisherman, and conservationist he decided to accept the position.
His work has been published in numerous magazines and newspapers including but not limited to Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine, Texas Monthly, Southern Living, National Geographic Traveler, Austin American Statesman, THE New York Times, THE Dallas Morning News and THE Houston Chronicle. His images also appear in numerous published books.
Chase Fountain has received numerous local, state and national awards and in 2017 he received a Lonestar Emmy from the Academy of Television and Arts.

Tier 1: Standard Classes
You can cancel a class registration up to two business days before the class begins and receive a full refund for standard classes. If you register for a tier 1 class and do not show up, your payment will be forfeited. You may reschedule a class only if notice is given before the start time of the class. Unless otherwise stated, class refunds are only issued to customers that provide notice to the store that they would like a refund no later than two business days prior to the class. Refunds will not be issued to customers who sign up for a class but fail to attend.
Each class needs a minimum number of students to enroll before the class can “make.” If the minimum enrollment has not been met two business days before the class begins, the class will be cancelled. All students who enrolled in the class will be notified by telephone or email, and may transfer to a different class or be issued a refund (see refund procedure). We encourage all students to enroll as soon as registration begins. Please check your phone and email messages, including your SPAM.
How to Reschedule or Cancel a Class
Please contact the store at 512-467-7676 or email email@example.com to cancel a class. Class cancellations or requests to be rescheduled that are sent through other channels, such as Facebook or Meetup.com messages, will not be honored.
