West Texas Excursion
The geography and culture of West Texas is beautiful and unique. Filled with rocky peaks, wild cactus, and desert grasslands, this region is a wonder to capture with the photographic eye.
Precision Camera is teaming up with photographer Mandy Lea to offer an adventurous workshop capturing the beautiful landscape of West Texas. Mandy will guide you to locations throughout Big Bend National Park including the Chisos Basin, Santa Elena Canyon and the Rio Grande River. In addition to exploring the National Park, you will also have the opportunity to see the surrounding areas of the Terlingua Ghost Town and the Big Bend Ranch State Park.
In addition to helping you understand camera settings, composition and lighting tips, we will end the workshop with brief tips for editing and a photo critique. The fee includes the workshop only. Transportation, lodging and food are not included.
Once you are registered, you will receive an email with itinerary and details prior to the workshop.
Additional, optional "Adventure days"
Have an extra large spirit for adventure? So does Mandy! Big Bend is enormous and you simply can’t see it all in a few days. We will offer an additional West Texas Adventure Days with more strenious hiking. While the first part of the workshop focuses on easier to reach vistas (nothing longer than a 1-2 mile loop), these extra two days will pack in a lot of adventure for those with a little extra energy. Attendees must have a valid US Passport to attend both days of this workshop.
Take just the two-day adventure days for $349 or add it on to the West Texas Excursion for $249. Just want to go on the adventure days? Find out more about the Adventure Days and purchase the standalone package HERE
We will shoot locations both days for sunrise and sunset. We will hike “the window” trail — a six mile round trip — during the golden hour. And if that isn't enough, we’re going to Mexico! There is a legal border crossing into the small town of Boquillas, a run down and nearly abandoned town that's chalk full of photographic opportunities. Plus, they serve a mean margarita! You MUST have a valid U.S. Passport to join on this day.
This workshop will be limited to 8 participants. Please note that there will be a lot of moderately difficult hiking, and the schedule could change based on weather. You can choose to sign up for only these two days, or save by adding it on to the earlier workshop.
We recommend staying at the Big Bend Resort & Adventures in Terlingua. The group will explore both the National and State parks and Terlingua is very central. This location also offers both the option of a motel or camping for those who prefer.
