Leica SL3-P Overview
Content Credentials and Full-Frame Performance
The Leica SL3-P is a 44.9MP full-frame mirrorless camera built on the Leica L-mount system, pairing a full-frame CMOS sensor with the Maestro IV image processor and 8GB of buffer memory. Its defining feature is native Leica Content Credentials support, developed in accordance with the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), embedding tamper-proof metadata including camera model, author information, and creation data directly into every image file at capture. The camera supports 14-bit DNG capture, a 176.7MP handheld multi-shot mode, an ISO range of 50 to 200,000, and continuous shooting up to 40fps via the electronic shutter. The IP54-rated all-metal magnesium and aluminum body is splash and dust protected, and the 5-axis in-body image stabilization system provides up to 5 stops of shake reduction.
44.9MP Full-Frame CMOS Sensor and Maestro IV Processor
At the core of the SL3-P is its 44.9MP full-frame CMOS sensor paired with the Maestro IV image processor and 8GB of buffer memory. This combination supports 14-bit DNG capture, a 176.7MP handheld multi-shot mode, and an ISO range extending from 50 to 200,000 across photo and video modes.
Leica Content Credentials
The SL3-P is equipped with native Leica Content Credentials support in accordance with the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI). Each image can be signed with tamper-proof metadata including camera model, author, and creation and editing data, providing a verifiable chain of custody for editorial, commercial, and documentary workflows.
Hybrid AF System with PDAF
The SL3-P features a hybrid autofocus system combining 819-point phase detection, depth map object detection, and contrast detection AF for reliable performance across a wide range of shooting scenarios. Subject tracking covers human (eye, face, and body), animal (eye and body), and vehicle detection, and the electronic shutter supports continuous shooting up to 40fps at 12-bit.
8K Video Recording and ProRes
The SL3-P records video internally in resolutions up to 8K Open Gate (8064x5376) at 24p, C8K at 30p, 4K at up to 120p, C4K at up to 120p, and Full HD at up to 120p. Apple ProRes 422HQ is available for internal recording, and RAW output is supported via HDMI to an external recorder.
L-Log and HLG for Wide Dynamic Range Video
The SL3-P supports L-Log (Rec. 2020) and HLG color profiles for professional video production. A dedicated Cine mode sits alongside standard P/A/S/M photo and video modes, and a timecode/sync interface supports professional multi-camera and audio synchronization workflows.
5-Axis Image Stabilization
The SL3-P's 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization system provides up to 5 stops of shake reduction, supporting handheld shooting across both photo and video modes and extending the practical use of adapted lenses including Leica M glass.
