Let's Get Weird: Creative Portraiture Using Unusual Objects

Boring Backgrounds. White Seamless. Ugh. Not any more! Come get weird with us in this class. Aluminum Foil? Yes we will be using foil. Haze, projectors, and crystals? Them too.  Sign up for this class if you are ready to shake things up and explore your creative brain by putting old things to new uses.

Structure and Format

30-45 Minute Discussion followed by 2+ hours of studio work. This class is very interactive and your participation matters.. This class will be held at the Precision Camera Studio.

Topics Covered

• The Creative Process
• Putting new things in front of your lens
• Adding Haze
• Alternate Backgrounds/Using a projector for effect
• Adding color to your work
• The Lindsey Adler optical spot grid 

Equipment Required

Bring a camera and lenses you like. Note taking materials. Memory Cards, batteries. And bonus but not required item: something shiny or translucent. Instructor will provide lighting and creative equipment.

Audience

This is an intermediate to advanced class. You should know how your camera works and have at least an understanding of off camera lighting. If you feel you are stuck in a rut and not sure how to break out, this is a great class for you. We are going to teach you creative tools that you can apply to your photography.

About the Instructor

To Josh, life is one big adventure. He founded AzulOx Visuals in 2009 and has been exploring the world and new photographic techniques ever since. Josh loves to use his photographs to tell stories, and he excels in designing creative story-boarded shoots. Josh is passionate about photography and the creative development of his students. He uses a variety of teaching techniques to help his students realize their photographic vision.
