What is Precision Camera University?

Precision Camera University, is a two-day, hands-on photography experience, featuring specialized photography workshops led by four leading photographers in the industry today. Each student will be placed in one of four breakout groups that will cycle through each instructor’s immersive 4 - hour workshop over the two days. Each workshop will be a mixture of lecture time and hands-on shooting with live models, professional-grade studio sets, and dynamic lighting.  This weekend is an amazing opportunity to enhance your portfolio, network with other photographers, and gain exclusive insights from world-class instructors!

Caroline Tran, Fujifilm

Workshop: The Three Keys to Powerful Portraits

Caroline will lead a workshop on creating dynamic and flattering portraits with confidence and intention. In this immersive course, Caroline demonstrates her go to lighting setups, posing techniques, and camera angles while shooting in real time so students can see exactly how each decision impacts the final image.

 

Hernan Rodriguez, Tamron 

Workshop: Capturing Mood with Light & Color

Hernan will lead a workshop on creating compelling, emotionally resonant portraits through intentional use of light and color. In this hands-on workshop, Hernan will demonstrate how to shape your subject’s mood and character using the shape, quantity, quality, and color of light.

 

Kevin Jairaj, Canon
Workshop: Photographing Athletes with Flair 

Kevin will lead a workshop on lighting, posing, and secrets for creating his dramatic athlete and celebrity portraits. The techniques learned can carry over to all genres of photography and help take your work to the next level.

 

Niah Aldrich, Sony

Workshop: Styled in Color: Bold Portraits Through Patterns and Perspective

Niah will lead a workshop on moving beyond neutrals and working with color in a bold, intentional way. Learn how to use striking color palettes, graphic patterns, and creative perspective to build portraits that feel dynamic and visually compelling.

Parking Information:

  • 900 Barton Springs Rd, Austin, TX 78704
  • $20 parking per day
  • 4-story, 1,200-space garage next to the facility
  • Entrances on Barton Springs Rd. and Riverside Dr.
  • Clearance Height: 7’2”
  • Please note: If you leave the garage for lunch, and return to the parking lot after lunch, you will have to pay for parking again. To avoid this, we recommend packing your own lunch with you in the morning. 

DIRECTIONS

 

Lunch:

Lunch will be on your own. So, indulge in all Austin has to offer, especially the food. There are numerous options available within walking distance. There will also be a food truck available for an event in the lower level. Everyone is advised to bring water bottles and snacks for demonstrations held outside in adjacent areas of Town Lake and the Long Center.

During the event we will be hosting a FREE public trade show featuring representatives from our top photography brands. Registration for PCU is not necessary- whether you are a newbie or pro, come on in and take advantage of special event pricing at the trade show!

Precision Camera & Video will have a variety of equipment and accessories for sale. Visit with vendors and check out available demonstration models for your photography session. They will have camera bodies and lenses available for PCU registrants to try out.
