Used Nikon 15mm f/5.6 QD-C AI Lens
The Nikon Nikkor 15mm f/5.6 QD-C AI is a rare, manually-focused ultra-wide rectilinear prime built for Nikon F-mount cameras. First introduced in 1973 as a pre-AI lens, the AI version arrived in 1977–1978, and with an estimated total production of around 3,500 units across all versions, this is a genuinely scarce piece of glass that appeals to collectors and working photographers alike. Its 110° angle of view delivers a sweeping, dramatic perspective without fisheye distortion, making it well suited for architecture, landscapes, interiors, and astrophotography.
One of the most distinctive features of this lens is its built-in rotating filter turret — offering skylight (L1A), yellow (Y48), orange (O56), and red (R60) filters accessible via an external selector without requiring any front-mount attachments. The bulbous front element precludes standard front filters, so this built-in system is a key part of the lens's design, particularly for black-and-white film work. Its 14-elements-in-12-groups construction and all-metal build reflect the craftsmanship typical of Nikon's professional F-mount glass of the era, and the AI coupling allows metered exposure on compatible Nikon bodies.
