Used Sigma 12mm f/1.4 DC Contemporary Lens for Sony E
The Sigma 12mm F1.4 DC Contemporary is an ultra-wide-angle APS-C prime for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, offering the widest angle of view of any autofocus f/1.4 lens available for APS-C cameras. Delivering an 18mm full-frame equivalent field of view at 99.6° diagonal, the lens is well suited to landscape, astrophotography, group and environmental portraiture, and vlogging where capturing both subject and surroundings in a single frame is a priority. Despite its ultra-wide angle and fast aperture, the lens achieves the lightest weight and shortest length of any lens in Sigma's f/1.4 DC Contemporary prime series at 225g and 69.4mm, a reduction of 20% in length compared to the previous 16mm f/1.4 DC DN.
The optical formula consists of 14 elements in 12 groups incorporating 3 double-sided aspherical elements and 2 SLD (Special Low Dispersion) elements to control sagittal coma flare and deliver high resolution across the frame, even at f/1.4. A 9-blade rounded diaphragm produces smooth bokeh, and a stepping motor drives fast, precise, and quiet autofocus with minimal focus breathing for video work. The lens includes a manual aperture ring, dust and splash-resistant construction, and a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front element, and it reaches a 1:8.4 maximum magnification ratio at a 17.2cm minimum focus distance.
