The Sigma 16-300mm f/3.5-6.7 DC OS Contemporary is an APS-C all-in-one superzoom for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, covering a 24-450mm equivalent focal range in a single portable lens. Announced in early 2025, it is the first mirrorless lens with an 18.8x zoom ratio, spanning ultra-wide landscape and interior work through super-telephoto reach for wildlife, sports, and aviation. Autofocus is driven by Sigma's HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) motor for fast, smooth, and quiet performance, and the OS image stabilization system delivers up to 6 stops of correction at the wide end and 4.5 stops at the telephoto end per CIPA guidelines.
The optical formula consists of 20 elements in 14 groups incorporating 1 FLD, 4 SLD, and 4 aspherical elements for chromatic aberration and distortion control across the full zoom range. A 1:2 maximum magnification ratio at 70mm adds genuine close-up capability, and the 9-blade rounded diaphragm produces smooth bokeh. Dust and splash-resistant construction with a water and oil-repellent front element coating and a zoom lock switch at the wide end round out a well-specified travel and general-purpose zoom. The brass bayonet mount ensures long-term durability under regular use.
