Lighting as an Emotional and Narrative Tool

Fujifilm photographer Christopher Berry guides participants through the art of using light as an emotional and narrative tool—not just a technical one. A great portrait begins with understanding people, connecting with them, and lighting them in a way that reveals their story. Through engaging guided exercises and live demonstrations, students explore how to connect with their subjects, respond authentically to who they are, and create a cohesive set of 3–5 images that feel intentional, expressive, and alive.

Christopher Berry is a commercial portrait photographer based in Southern Arizona. For over a decade, he has used Fujifilm cameras to create images across creative, documentary, and corporate settings. Mastering the Art of Portraits

Sony Artisan of Imagery Monica Sigmon shares the posing and lighting methods she lives by. Participants learn how to light subjects beautifully with just one light source, how to best set camera settings based on subject matter, how to “see” the light needed to create truly stunning portraits, and so much more! The session concludes with a live portrait demonstration, offering a real-time look at Monica’s process in action.

Westcott Top Pro Eli Infante leads a hands-on workshop focused on turning ideas into impactful portraits. Participants will explore the creative process behind strong studio images—from concept development and lighting to posing and capturing the final shot. Through live demonstrations, attendees learn how to build intentional lighting setups, choose creative elements that support their vision, and confidently direct subjects, gaining practical techniques they can apply immediately to their own work.

Styling Workshop

Small Spaces. Small Budget. Big Results.

Stylist Paulina Gwaltney guides participants through the creation of striking custom outfits ranging from elegant and avant-garde to glamorous and bold. Attendees learn how to tailor each design to their subject’s body type and needs using simple, accessible techniques—no sewing or fashion experience required. Once the looks are complete, participants photograph them on thoughtfully designed sets with support for posing and lighting, gaining portfolio-ready images. Drawing on over 12 years of experience creating custom wardrobes with unconventional tools, Paulina shares a creative approach that has delighted clients and fueled successful fine art work.

Originally from Warsaw, Poland, Paulina Gwaltney is a stylist and photographer passionate about helping creatives elevate their work beautifully and affordably. She is known for teaching photographers to create powerful, styled portraits without breaking the bank. An accredited Master Photographer with The Portrait Masters, her work has appeared in Edith Magazine, Fine Lifestyles Santa Fe & Albuquerque, and Rangefinder. As an instructor, Paulina simplifies the creative process with patient, intuitive teaching.

Flash Workshop

Lighting with Intention: Off-Camera Flash Made Simple

Sigma Ambassador Keydrin Franklin leads a hands-on off-camera flash fundamentals workshop where he breaks down everything he has learned over the years to make shooting simpler and more intentional. Participants learn to balance subject and background exposure in the studio, transition to outdoor flash, control ambient light, and stay consistent in changing conditions. The session also covers lens and focal length choices, light meter workflow, and practical use of both Westcott and Godox lighting systems. The workshop concludes with hands-on shooting and, if time allows a Lightroom Classic color-correction walkthrough.

Sigma Ambassador Keydrin Franklin

Arkansas raised and Texas made, Keydrin Franklin is a skilled photographer known for distinctive portraits, expert lighting, and bold color grading. What began as a hobby in 2011 grew into a full-time career, launching 924 Photography and later 924 Films. A natural educator, Keydrin shares practical insights through workshops, social media, and his YouTube channel, helping photographers and filmmakers build skills with an approachable, lighthearted teaching style that resonates with creatives.
