Participants will walk away with practical knowledge to lead them deeper into crafting black and white photographs. This workshop will delve into the zone system and discuss ways to tune your creative vision, as well as the relevant tools necessary for a more organic workflow. The topics that will be covered are relevant to both digital and film photographers.
Bio:
Native Texan and photographer’s daughter, Amy Jasek graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dance in 1999. She took up photography seriously in 2003, and began exhibiting her darkroom prints in 2009. Since that time, Amy has exhibited photographs in multiple states and in Europe. The main focus of her work is narrative / candid and documentary in nature; people are what she enjoys photographing most, but she can find joy in photographing just about anything. The vast majority of her photography is black and white, in both film and digital.
For over a decade, Amy has been the website manager and instagram curator for the Film Shooters Collective. More recently, she joined the committee for the Texas Photography Festival, where she was a featured photographer in 2023 and photowalk leader in 2026. She enjoys building community and sharing the knowledge she’s gained over a lifetime of learning from her Dad and more than 25 years of personal dedication to the craft.
