AUSTIN, TX (April 20, 2015) -- After a year-long, sixteen film festival tour across the U.S. and in Moscow, the critically acclaimed, award-winning micro-budget romantic comedy “Arlo and Julie” begins a series limited engagements starting at Austin, Texas’s Violet Crown Cinema on Friday, May 8.

A festival favorite and winner of the Gold Trendie Award: 2014 Comedy Feature, the film follows a neurotic couple’s obsession with a mysterious, mail-delivered jigsaw puzzle and the toll it takes on their fragile relationship. Whimsical and inventive, the film’s twisting plot and surprising depth make it a one-of-a-kind experience. VARIETY’s Justin Chang described the film saying: “This comic mystery is a low-key, low-budget charmer.”

The film will expand to Scottsdale, Arizona’s Camelview 5 on Friday May 15 and Santa Fe’s brand-new Violet Crown Cinema on Friday, May 29.

"Arlo and Julie" also debuts online via Apple’s iTunes, GooglePlay and Amazon beginning May 8.

Writer/director Steve Mims and lead actor Alex Dobrenko (Arlo) will hold question and answer sessions on opening weekend at the Violet Crown in Austin. Mims will accompany the film to Scottsdale and Santa Fe.

A big part of the film’s appeal is an excellent cast that includes Dobrenko, Ashley Spillers, Mallory Culbert, Hugo Zesati, Chris Doubek, Annalee Jefferies, Sam Eidson and Jonathan Breck.

Other crew members included Mims’s documentary filmmaking partner Joe Bailey, Jr who line produced the film and recorded sound, art director Kakii Keenan, sound mixer Korey Pereira and executive producer Richelle Fatheree.
