Don't Leave the Camera Store Without These!
24th Feb 2021
So you've purchased your first camera and are wondering where to go next or what else do you need in order to have a successful shoot.... Here are a few things that most people wish they had purchased right after buying their camera!
1) Extra Batteries
Batteries! You can never have too many extra batteries and chargers. There is nothing worse than traveling all the way to your location or showing up to a shoot and realizing you're out of juice or forgot your batteries in the charger at home. Another scenario is having to cut a shoot early because you didn't have enough battery power to make it to the end. These things tend to happen quite a bit and the best thing you can do is to have plenty of extras on hand!
2) Filters
Protecting your lenses is SO important and you never know what life is going to throw at you - literally! A lens filter will help protect against dust, rain, moisture and scratches. After spending your hard earned money on a nice new lens, remember that it's much easier to replace a scratched filter than it is to replace a scratched lens. They come in different sizes so make sure to find the right size for your lens. We always recommend the Promaster HGX Prime Protection Filters! They're the best you can get.
3) Protection Plan
Accidents happen, and it's never fun. But knowing you've got a good warranty to cover you is always a relief. Whether it's a manufacturer defect, accidental drop or impact, sand or grit, or a mechanical malfunction the Mack Worldwide Warranty will have you covered, and will replace your gear if unrepairable! Make sure to read the details carefully and to select a coverage that correctly covers your gear.
4) Memory Cards
Just like batteries, you want make sure to have enough to make it through your shoot. Shoots can run long or maybe you take more photos than you expected, especially with the bursts modes nowadays. Either way it's always good to have quality memory cards with you. It's also good to make sure that you have a card that can handle the write speed that you would like it to have. Shooting sports or big high quality video demands a card that can handle that. For SD, We recommend the Hoodman Steel Cards. They're steel plated and super durable, also have an unlimited warranty. If you need a XQD Card, Sony has a ones that work great! Also remember to have an external card reader that will fit your cards.
