Holiday Photography Strategies

with Tim Babiak

During the holidays, people with “nice” cameras are often called upon to take some quick photos of groups of people. However, many of these people don’t usually photograph people and the circumstances can vary widely. Sometimes, the scene is dimly lit or maybe we need to balance light to make holiday lights expose properly. This class is designed to cover a variety of situations and strategies so you’ll be better prepared this holiday season.

Topics Covered

- Using window light

- Using on-camera flash with bounce - Using constant (LED) lights

- Using off-camera flash

- Balancing artificial light with ambient light

- Posing basics – how to pose anyone to make them look their best

Audience

This class is targeted for all levels of photographers who wish to improve their indoor portraiture skills in a variety of situations that tend to arise during the holiday season.

Objective

This workshop serves as a great starting point for those seeking to prepare themselves for indoor portraits during the holiday season. Students will have the opportunity to photograph a professional model and can expect to leave the class with a greater understanding of a variety of strategies to use during the holidays.

This three-hour class consists of lecture, demonstration and student practice. Students will see the instructor demonstrate techniques then students will photograph a professional model using the material they’ve learned.
