Precision Camera's Guide to the Best Tripods

Every photographer, from beginner to professional, can benefit greatly from using a tripod. But with so many options it can be quite a confusing process of choosing what tripod works best for you. That’s why we have put together this awesome list of tripods to help make things a little bit easier.

First, it is important to know and understand the components that make up a tripod: Legs, Head, and Center Column.

Tripod legs are typically made of aluminum, basalt, steel, or carbon fiber, and feature many lock types, sections, and leg lengths.

The tripod head is going to be the part that holds the camera to the tripod. They come in many different types, the most popular being ball heads and pan heads.

The center column is a separate leg that runs through the center of the tripod. This allows you to further raise the tripod head. The center column comes in three types; quick release, geared, and 90 degree overhead.
