The Canon PowerShot SX540 HS is a bridge superzoom camera built around a 20.3MP BSI CMOS sensor and a 50x optical zoom lens covering a 24-1200mm equivalent focal range with Optical Image Stabilization. The DIGIC 6 image processor enables Full HD 1080/60p video recording and supports continuous shooting at up to 5.9fps. P, Av, Tv, and M exposure modes give the camera a full manual control set alongside Smart Auto scene detection. Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC allow wireless image transfer and remote shooting via Canon's Camera Connect app.
The SX540 HS features a 3.0" 461,000-dot fixed LCD on the rear and no built-in EVF, a distinction worth noting for buyers accustomed to viewfinder-equipped superzooms. The camera records to SD/SDHC/SDXC media and is powered by the NB-6LH battery. Hybrid Auto mode records short video clips alongside stills to create a highlight reel automatically, and Creative Shot mode applies multiple stylized effects to a single capture for in-camera creative variation.
