Used Contax G 90mm f/2.8 Sonnar Lens for G1, G2
The Contax G 90mm f/2.8 Sonnar T* is the telephoto lens of the Contax G rangefinder system, built around a classic 5-element, 4-group Sonnar optical design with Carl Zeiss T* multi-coating. Introduced alongside the G1 and compatible with the G2, it covers the 35mm full-frame format at a 27-degree diagonal field of view, making it the natural choice for portraits, candid telephoto work, travel, and theater or event photography where reach and subject separation matter. The screw-drive autofocus system integrates with the G1 and G2 body-driven AF mechanism, and the titanium-finish barrel keeps weight down to 240g despite the all-metal construction.
Optically the lens is regarded as one of the sharpest in the G system, maintaining field illumination and contrast at full aperture across the frame. The 8-bladed diaphragm stops down to f/22, the 46mm filter thread keeps accessory options accessible, and the 1.0m minimum focus distance suits head-and-shoulders portrait work. There is no focus ring on the barrel; focus is controlled entirely through the camera body on native G-mount use. This is a used example in the Precision Camera inventory, compatible with the Contax G1 and G2.
