The Fujifilm GF 55mm f/1.7 R WR is a medium format prime lens for the GFX system, offering a 44mm full-frame equivalent angle of view and the fastest maximum aperture currently available in the GF lineup at f/1.7. The aperture ring and internal focusing design are consistent with other GF lenses, and the WR designation indicates dust, freeze, and moisture resistance for use in varied shooting conditions. At 55mm on a medium format sensor, the lens is well-positioned for portrait, street, and general-purpose work where a natural perspective and substantial subject separation are priorities.
The optical formula consists of 14 elements in 10 groups incorporating two ED elements and two aspherical elements for chromatic aberration and distortion control. An 11-blade rounded aperture diaphragm produces smooth bokeh, and autofocus is driven by a DC motor with a precision GMR sensor for fast and accurate performance. Internal focusing keeps the front element stationary throughout the focus range. The 77mm metal filter thread and all-metal construction are consistent with the broader GF lens lineup.
