Used Nikon 135mm f/2.8 AI Lens
The AI Nikkor 135mm f/2.8 is a manual focus telephoto prime produced by Nippon Kogaku for the Nikon F mount, representing the AI-updated version of one of Nikon's most enduring focal length and aperture combinations. At 135mm and f/2.8 it covers portrait, candid, event, and general telephoto work with a compact package that weighs under a pound and accepts standard 52mm filters. The AI coupling ridge provides full metering compatibility with AI and later Nikon F mount bodies, and the lens remains widely adaptable to modern mirrorless systems via F-mount adapters.
The 5-element, 4-group optical design is multicoated and delivers consistent resolution and contrast across the aperture range, with the lens generally regarded as sharpest from f/5.6 onward. The 7-bladed diaphragm stops down to f/32, and the 1.3m minimum focus distance is practical for portrait and detail work. A built-in sliding lens hood is integrated into the barrel, eliminating the need for a separate hood. All-metal barrel construction is consistent with Nippon Kogaku standards of the period. This is a used example in the Precision Camera inventory.
