Ergonomic for easy, comfortable controls with four focus function buttons right on the barrel. For easy tripod handling, the tripod collar ring spins on ball bearings for smooth transitions between horizontal and vertical shots so you're not restricted to any format. Distortion and glare is eliminated with six ED glass elements, utilizing Fluorite, High Refractive lens elements and Nano Crystal Coat which all maximize contrast and sharpness even in challenging light situations.
The constant f/2.8 aperture, you'll be able to get the soft blurred background you're looking for at every focal length. An improved close up focus brights you 1 foot closer from 4.6 feet to 3.6 feet to make portraits, indoor sports, wedding receptions and more a breeze. An all-weather sealed lens to keep you shooting when the weather isn't optimal. The VR image stabilization brings you up from 3.5 to ~4 stops of stabilization to give you confidence in those handheld and monopod shots. A specialized Sports Mode is optimized for camera pans and fast-action sports, and the Tripod Mode eliminates the subtle ground vibrations that are constantly passing through a tripod or monopod. AF tracking is improved and an amazing high-speed continuous shooting works flawlessly with your camera via Electromagnetic Diaphragm Mechanism to make sure you're capturing your subject, no matter their speed.
