The Samyang AF 35-150mm f/2-2.8 FE (also sold as the Rokinon AF 35-150mm F2-2.8 FE in North America) is a versatile all-in-one zoom lens for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, covering five widely used focal lengths — 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, 135mm, and 150mm — with a bright variable aperture ranging from f/2 at the wide end to f/2.8 at telephoto. This unusually fast aperture range across such a broad zoom makes the lens a genuine one-lens solution for portrait, event, wedding, and travel photographers who would otherwise need to carry multiple primes to cover the same range.
The optical formula consists of 21 elements in 18 groups, with special elements used in 12 of the 21 total including 2 aspherical, 1 hybrid aspherical, 3 high refractive index, and 6 ED elements, combined with Samyang's Ultra Multi-Coating (UMC) to control flare and ghosting. A rounded 9-blade diaphragm delivers smooth, soft bokeh well suited to portraiture, and a Linear Stepping Motor (LSTM) drives fast, quiet, and precise autofocus with full-time manual override. The lens features moisture-resistant construction with 11 internal seal points and a rubber gasket at the mount, along with a hydrophobic UMC coating on the front element. Physical controls include two focus hold buttons, an AF/MF switch, a three-position customizable function switch, and a zoom lock switch to prevent zoom creep during transport, since the barrel extends externally rather than internally as it zooms.
