Used Takumar 135mm f/3.5 Lens
The Takumar 135mm f/3.5 is a manual focus telephoto prime lens for M42 screw-mount 35mm SLR cameras, produced by Asahi Optical Co. in the late 1950s as part of the earliest Takumar lens lineup for the Asahi Pentax system. At 135mm and f/3.5, it was widely regarded as an ideal portrait lens for its era, offering a comfortable working distance and pleasing background compression while filling the frame with a subject's head and shoulders without the distortion associated with closer focal lengths. The lens uses a preset aperture design with dual concentric rings — one for pre-selecting the working aperture and a second click-stop ring for quickly snapping to that preset value while composing — a common mechanism on lenses of this generation before fully automatic diaphragms became standard.
The optical formula consists of 5 elements in 4 groups, with an 8-blade preset diaphragm producing smooth, rounded bokeh at moderate apertures. The all-metal chrome and black barrel is consistent with Asahi's build quality from this period, and the lens focuses down to 2m (6.5ft). As an M42 mount lens, it is compatible with any M42 screw-mount film SLR body natively, or with mirrorless systems (Canon EF, Micro Four Thirds, Sony E, and others) via a simple, inexpensive M42 adapter, operating in stop-down manual aperture mode.
