Used Vivitar FD 28-90mm f/2.8-3.5 Macro Lens
The Vivitar Series 1 28-90mm f/2.8-3.5 Macro is one of the most acclaimed third-party zoom lenses of the 1980s — a hefty, optically impressive push-pull varifocal manufactured by Komine for Vivitar's premium Series 1 lineup. Covering a genuinely versatile wide-to-short-telephoto range with a fast maximum aperture, it earned a strong reputation for center sharpness and color rendering that rivaled far more expensive optics of its era. Today it's a popular choice for film shooters running Canon FD bodies, as well as adapted mirrorless users seeking a characterful vintage zoom with real optical chops.
The lens features 14 elements in 12 groups with Vivitar's VMC (Vivitar Multi-Coating) treatment to reduce flare and improve contrast. The one-touch push-pull design simultaneously controls zoom and focus — compact and fast to use once familiar, though note that it's varifocal rather than true parfocal, meaning refocusing after zooming is necessary. Macro capability at the 28mm end allows focus down to approximately 1:3 life-size, making it versatile beyond standard zoom duties. Six aperture blades and a 67mm filter thread round out the package. Important compatibility note: this lens uses the Canon FD breech-lock mount and is not natively compatible with Canon EF, EF-S, or RF cameras. It can be adapted to mirrorless systems (Sony E, Micro Four Thirds, Fuji X, etc.) with a standard FD adapter.
