It's that time of year again when the industry is ablaze with news of what's coming down the pike in tech this year. What's coming to our shelves in the near future? Let's dig right in.

D5500 is Nikon's first touch-screen DLSR.

The D5500 further refines the popular D5300. The trusty 24.2 MP DX-format CMOS sensor and Expeed 4 processor get a new touchscreen with AF control and sees max ISO increased from 12,800 to 25,600. These and other enhancements come in a slightly lighter but otherwise identical form factor that eeks a little longer life out of the standard EN-EL14a Li-Ion battery which Nikon says will last 1/3 longer. The D5500 body will be available in black and red for $899 as well as in kits with 18-55, and 18-140.

Nikon Announces AF-S Nikkor 300mm F/4 PF ED VR Lens

Nikon also welcomes the AF-s DX Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED VR II

Optimized for DX format camera like the new D5500, this new compact telephoto zoom packs great features into a stout and lightweight lens. ED glass and Vibration Reduction all but guarantee sharp photos and video throughout the focal range. Priced at $349, it's the perfect companion to the 18-55 kit lens.

New Fujinon XF16-55 f/2.8 R LM WR

Fuji X-Series users get a fresh new 2.8 lens in the classic zoom range of 24-84mm equivalent. Like other newer x-mounts, it's weather-resistant and dust-proof with a 9-blade rounded rounded aperture for a smooth circular bokeh that's sure to yield great reviews. Now available for pre-order at $1199.
