The Leica Summilux-SL 50 f/1.4 ASPH. is the compact travel, portrait, and reportage lens for the Leica SL-System, offering f/1.4 lens speed and fast autofocus in a design that creates a balanced, natural unit when used with Leica SL cameras. Manufactured in Germany, it is built around 11 elements in 6 groups with 2 aspherical surfaces produced using Leica's in-house PGM process. When used with SL cameras, the black anodized aluminum body is sealed against dust and splash water in accordance with the IP54 standard, and the metal lens hood is included in the scope of supply.

At its maximum aperture of f/1.4, the Summilux-SL reveals its distinctive character. Naturally soft bokeh combined with high contrast in the focused zone draws the eye directly to the subject, whether for portraits with depth, travel photos filled with atmosphere, or reportage shots with clear composition.

SL-System Lens Design

The Summilux-SL combines optical performance with a design engineered for the SL-System. The Precision Voice-Coil drive executes focus commands quickly and almost silently, and the lens communicates directly with the camera via the Leica L bayonet contact strip with lens firmware updatable via the camera.
