The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX700 is a touchscreen compact camera built around a 14.1 megapixel MOS sensor and a stabilized Leica DC Vario-Summicron 5x zoom lens, covering a 24-120mm equivalent range with a bright f/2.2 maximum aperture at the wide end. Its minimal-button design leans heavily on its 3-inch touchscreen for navigating settings and controls.
The camera offers full manual exposure control alongside Program, Aperture Priority, and Shutter Priority modes, along with Full HD 1080i/p video recording in AVCHD format. Face detection and face recognition can register specific individuals and prioritize them when shooting or searching through playback, and burst shooting reaches up to 10fps at full resolution. An autofocus tracking mode follows a moving subject around the frame, rounding out a feature set aimed at photographers who want more control than a typical point-and-shoot.
