The Sigma 23mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary is a fast-aperture wide-angle prime designed specifically for APS-C mirrorless cameras, and fits Sony E-mount bodies natively. With a 35mm full-frame equivalent field of view, it covers one of the most versatile focal lengths in photography — well-suited for street work, environmental portraits, landscapes, and everyday carry shooting. Compact and lightweight for its aperture class, it continues Sigma's DC DN Contemporary series tradition of pairing strong optical performance with a practical, pocketable form factor.
The optical design comprises 13 elements in 10 groups, including 3 SLD (Super Low Dispersion) glass elements and 2 aspherical elements to control chromatic aberration, distortion, and spherical aberrations from wide open. Sigma's Super Multi-Layer Coating is applied to suppress flare and ghosting. A stepping motor AF drive delivers fast, quiet autofocus well suited to both stills and video, and a 9-blade rounded diaphragm produces smooth bokeh at large apertures. The lens focuses as close as 9.9 inches, a mount-sealing rubber gasket provides dust and splash resistance, and the 52mm filter thread keeps the overall footprint compact on Sony APS-C bodies.
