Used Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2 ZE Lens for Canon EF
The Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm f/2 ZE is a full-frame manual focus telephoto macro prime lens for Canon EF mount cameras, combining a fast f/2 maximum aperture with genuine 1:2 half-life-size macro capability. The 100mm focal length provides a comfortable working distance for both portraiture and close-up subjects, and the floating element optical system maintains high image quality across the entire focusing range, from infinity down to its 0.44m minimum focus distance, without the compromises typical of dedicated macro-only designs. This dual-purpose performance makes the lens equally effective for industrial, scientific, nature, and product photography as it is for portrait work where selective focus and subject isolation are priorities.
The optical formula consists of 9 elements in 8 groups, and a 9-blade diaphragm clicks in half-stop increments from f/2 to f/22 for precise exposure control. The lens communicates electronically with the Canon EF mount for aperture control and focus confirmation despite lacking autofocus, and the all-metal barrel construction with a long focus throw supports the deliberate, precise manual focusing that macro work demands. Zeiss's T* anti-reflective coating controls flare and ghosting, and dual distance scales in feet and meters alongside a depth-of-field scale support careful manual focus technique.
