Used Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 50mm f/2 ZE Lens for Canon EF
The Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 50mm f/2 ZE is a full-frame manual focus macro prime lens for Canon EF mount cameras, offering a versatile normal perspective alongside genuine 1:2 half-life-size macro capability. The floating element design maintains high image quality across the entire focusing range, from portrait and general-purpose distances down to close macro work, making it a capable all-around 50mm lens rather than a dedicated macro optic with compromises at other distances. The lens uses Zeiss's T* anti-reflective coating to control flare and ghosting, and its deeply recessed front element offers meaningful protection against stray light and physical contact even without a lens hood attached.
The optical formula consists of 8 elements in 6 groups incorporating a floating element system, and the aperture ring clicks in half-stop increments from f/2 to f/22. Despite lacking autofocus, the lens communicates electronically with the camera body for full aperture control and compatibility with Canon's "green dot" focus confirmation indicator. The all-metal barrel construction gives the lens significant heft relative to its compact dimensions, and the long focus throw of roughly 330° from infinity to minimum focus distance rewards deliberate, precise manual focusing, particularly useful when working close to the 0.24m minimum focus distance.
