SXSW 2019 Through A Photographer's Eyes

Posted by Katrina Barber on 6th Jan 2020

This year’s SXSW was a total dream.

Not only did I get to partner with a local camera company that I truly love, but I also got to live the fantasy that is seeing Lizzo in-person (an experience I HIGHLY recommend).

Hopping around the fest, I was able to catch a few old favorites and discover new music that now live in my Spotify playlists. Duncan Fellows and Mt. Joy at the Capital One House; DRAKULAS at the Volcom Garden; Lizdelise, Sea Moya, Ladyfang, and Otis the Destroyer at PCV’s own Turn Your Camera On in-store show; Car Seat Headrest, King Princess, and the QUEEN herself Lizzo at Stubb’s.

Shooting with the Nikon D850 was such a game changer: the dynamic range, lightning-fast autofocusing, built-in Wifi, and touch-screen changed my world so much I had to go out and get my hands on one for my arsenal. Thank you to Precision for opening my eyes!

The images below were shot on the D850, with either the 50mm f/1.8 or 14-24mm f/2.8.
