Used Super-Takumar 55mm f/1.8 Lens
The Super-Takumar 55mm f/1.8 is a compact manual focus normal prime for M42 screw-mount cameras, made by Asahi Optical from 1962 to 1971. The 55mm focal length gives a natural 43° view on full-frame, and the f/1.8 aperture helps in low light and gives a pleasing shallow depth of field for portraits.
The optical design is a classic double-Gauss with 6 elements in 5 groups and a 6-blade automatic diaphragm, in an all-metal barrel. The focus ring has a long, smooth throw down to 1.5 feet, and the 49mm filter thread takes standard filters. At about 215g it’s small and light, and with an M42 adapter it works well as a manual focus prime on many mirrorless cameras.
- 55mm focal length with an f/1.8 maximum aperture
- 6 elements in 5 groups
- 6-blade automatic diaphragm
- All-metal construction
- Minimum focusing distance of 1.5' (0.45m)
- Compact and lightweight at about 215g, with a 49mm filter size
