February Class Spotlight

We've got some great classes going on this month! Check out our top picks below.
Wednesday, February 9 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Anderson store | $649
This is the first of six classes in a six-week course on indoor portraits. In the beginning, we'll cover fundamental concepts then build to cover more advanced and creative concepts. You’ll work with professional models each week as well as a variety of lighting types- including continuous lights, speedlights and studio lights.
In the first class, we'll go over lens selection, exposure and white balance, how to use continuous lights for portraiture, quality of light + light placement, understanding lighting ratios and how to measure them, umbrellas and softboxes, reflector selection and placement, and Lightroom.
Sunday, February 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Silicon Auto Group | $149
During this workshop, we will learn to capture compelling images of cars and focus on overcoming the complications in lighting and composition they offer. We’ll start with using off camera lighting with cars including strategies of dealing with reflection and glare. We’ll talk about finding defining details to document each cars unique personality.
Saturday, February 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Anderson store | $99
Floral photography is something that can be enjoyed year-round either on location in a garden or indoors with flowers from a local shop. In this workshop, you'll learn several different approaches to floral photography using different light methods.
Manual Camera Control Bootcamp
Saturday, February 19 from 12 to 5 p.m. at Southpark Meadows | $199
Automatic settings on cameras can be convenient but can also frustrate photographers. Manual control of a camera assures proper exposure and consistent results. An understanding of aperture (f/stops), shutter speed, ISO, lenses, and light control all contribute to the success of each and every photograph you make. Your camera is a tool built to be controlled, not a gadget with a mind of its own. When you are ready to make the commitment to learn, this class is the key to open up all possibilities in your current and future photography.
How to Get The Best Shot From Your Model
Thursday, Feb 24 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Anderson store | $99
Many photographers struggle with basics of how to find the perfect model for their shoot. Once they find them, they are unsure of how to reach out to the model. Models are artists, just like photographers. They are inspired by the work and collaboration with the photographer. Communication is essential for a success in any shoot, but communication between the model and photographer is imperative. Join model, Kaitlyn Covington, on a deep dive on how to better communicate with your model to get the best shot possible.
Creative Portraiture Using Water Smoke and Color
Saturday, February 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. at TerrAdorna in Manor | $159
In this class, we will discuss how to come up with creative solutions to everyday photographer problems. We will discuss the creative process and how photographers can learn to think through any scenario they encounter. We will produce portraits and landscapes with smoke, gels, filters, water and other random objects to add variance in our work. This class will have a practical discussion and then a shooting experience focusing on adding randomness to the shoot to create imagery outside the norm.
