During this workshop, we will learn to capture compelling images of cars and focus on overcoming the complications in lighting and composition they offer. We’ll start with using off camera lighting with cars including strategies of dealing with reflection and glare. We’ll talk about finding defining details to document each cars unique personality.

Ready to take your video to the next level? Ready to add some lifestyle video content to your portfolio? This class is for you. You’ll shoot with professional models and learn to shoot in various frame rates for different effects. You’ll learn camera movement and how to shoot in various lighting conditions. You’ll learn how to use the elements around you to add character and texture to your videos.

Portraits in Depth 6 Week Series

Week One is Friday Sept. 17 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Anderson store

In this six-week course you’ll get all of the information you need to make beautiful portraits indoors. You’ll work with professional models each week as well as a variety of lighting types. Week One includes lens selection, nailing exposure and white balance, using continuous lights for portraiture, quality of light, light placement, understanding lighting ratios and how to measure them, using umbrellas and softboxes, reflector selection and placement, introduction to posing, importing your images into Lightroom, and using the Lightroom Develop module.

Creating an atmosphere for poetic expression, and shaping light to match the mood. In Ruben Caballero’s workshop you will dive in to what it means to use photography as a means of expression. Using his unique lighting setups, preferred camera settings, and directing techniques, Ruben will challenge you to go beyond creating a pretty picture to see the art of photography.

In this course, we introduce beginner concepts and techniques to get you started flying drones. This course is for new and beginning drone pilots, or people who have recently purchased a drone and are wanting to start flying drones.

This workshop is specific to bird photography and for those familiar with their camera settings. We will work on composition, lighting, bird behavior and identification, angle and point of focus. There will be opportunities to see shore birds, prairie birds and song birds.

In this class we will discuss how to come up with creative solutions to everyday photographer problems. We will discuss the creative process and how photographers can learn to think through any scenario they encounter. We will produce portraits and landscapes with smoke, gels, filters, water and other random objects to add variance in our work. This class will have a practical discussion and then a shooting experience focusing on adding randomness to the shoot to create imagery outside the norm.

Lumen Paper Class

Tuesday, Sept. 28 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Anderson store

A lumen print is a solar photogram - an image created on photographic paper, exposed by the sun. It began as one of photography's earliest experiments in the 19th century.

This class will cover what you need to get started. The focus will be printing on silver gelatin photo sensitive paper, and we'll cover basics of making a successful Lumen Print. It is recommended to bring items preferable plant life foliage to enhance your print making experience. This class is especially beneficial for people who want to explore the versatile use of light sensitive paper, in this camera-less printing technique.
